Relay Tour of England

Overview

The TR7 Relay tour has now been finalised, but don't worry there's still time for you to get involved. We hope that the tour will also raise money for the charity 'Spinal Research'; RTA's (Road Traffic Accident's) can cause much injury and suffering, one such injury is damage to the spinal cord - therefore it is quite fitting with a road tour to raise money for a charity carrying out vital research into spinal injuries.

The tour will cover approximately 1200 miles from Saturday 11 June thru to Sunday 20th - finishing at The Royal Oak in Naseby. The route has been planned (click on the graphic for a slightly more detailed version); however with less than 200 miles daily the emphasis is on 'relaxed', allowing detours for site-seeing and tourist type shenanigans. There is no compulsion for anyone wishing to partake to do the whole tour, you need not even do a whole day - just as many miles as you wish. The route passes many tourist attractions and (hopefully) scenic views, the miles-per day is less than 200 so you should have time to take in some of those attractions or go for a walk.

The intended 'overnight' locations are as follows:

  • Sat 11th - Bassenthwaite/Keswick (Lake District)
  • Sun 12th - Goole
  • Mon 13th - Wells-next-the-Sea
  • Tue 14th - Chelmsford
  • Wed 15th - East Grinstead(ish)
  • Thu 16th - Southampton
  • Fri 17th - Banbury
  • Sat 18th - Royal Leamington Spa/Warwick

As there's a lot of information for the whole tour I've broken it down into the following pages - this will benefit those with a dial-up connection as there's a fair few pictures.

Days 1 thru 3: Liverpool to the Norfolk Coast
Days 4 thru 6: Wells-next-the-Sea to Southampton
Days 7 thu 9: Southampton to Naseby

I hope you like the sound of getting involved - remember you don't have to do a whole day it's up to you how many miles you do. It's for a good cause and the more people escorting the baton or meeting in the evenings the better

You've convinced me I want to be involved!
